A Master’s degree is achieved as an academic step further than the Bachelor’s degree. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is always required. Some work experience may be necessary for admission to some programs. Master’s degrees can expand upon the education of a Bachelor’s degree, or may be in a completely different field. Master’s degrees are often required for higher-level roles in a professional workplace. The Master’s degree program is generally expected to take 1 to 2 years. It grants a Masters of Arts (M.A.), Masters of Science (M.S.) or Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and establishes an individual is qualified beyond the basic academic teachings of a Bachelor’s degree. The Master’s degree provides additional skills for professional roles. It falls below the Doctorate degree. Besides the general academic coursework and exams, a Master’s may also require a dissertation be written before the degree is received.
